    Suspension

I'm really tossed up, I know it's mostly a matter of personal preference but.....

I've seen all in one suspensions, whoopie slings (which I'm considering) with straps and marlin spike knot atlas strap ECT ECT

I'm brand new to ham mocking I've watched shrugs videos which were great and informative and I've watched a ton of reviews. Every system has about the same reviews which like I said its a personal preference. I feel being new and a backpacker I want something that is easy and repeatable so I can hang correctly easily and quickly. What advise do you all have? I understand again its personal but looking for something to meet my needs.

I am considering whoopie slings a whoopie adjustable ridgeline and just some webbing to marlin spike. I would like to hear your opinions. Thank you

Whoopie slings are very simply and easy. For me, my consideration would be a whoopie with dutch whoopie hook suspension or a simple cinch buckle system. Dutchware has both buit Warbonnet also has cinch buckles available.

    Works for me.

Get whatever looks interesting to you and go from there. Chances are, you will try several systems over time.

I am a long-time camper but, just recently discovered hammock camping. I really like the tree hugger, whoopie sling combination.

I purchased my first set-up from fellow forum member Opie. However, after a few online tutorials, I'm now splicing my own whoopie slings, continuous loops, soft shackles ect. This is very satisfying.

    You're right, it's a personal preference thing. Here's mine.

I can't stand any kind of buckle. I've tried them all and scratch my head and wonder how folks can recommend them, but they do.

My suspension consists of a 5' tree strap with a loop sewn into one end, a marlin spike, a 5-1/2' whoopie sling with a Dutch Whoopie Hook in the fixed eye which connects to a 3-1/2" diameter continuous loop larks-headed onto the hammock end knot.

My straps are Harbor Freight 900# break strength and the whoopies & loops are Dynaglide. The spike is a trail stick fir a total weight of 3.1 ounce for both ends combined.

You can see and learn about many different suspension styles by Attending a group hang, or just dropping by for a visit. Worked for me! And, I met new friends too!

As gmcttr says, "Chances are, you will try several systems over time." Yup!

My 2c worth is, for starting out use woopies. Very easy. After a while you might want to try something different, but if you start with them you won't be disappointed.

Variety! I have and enjoy working with a variety of different suspensions, there really isn't one type that I dislike. But it sure is fun saying whoopie.

This was my first year hammock camping and I used a couple systems, I like the Whoopie system best and have been using that. I think the ridgeline is greatest piece of your suspension. Before I started using the ridgeline I would never get the same lay twice. Try things out and you soon have an opinion on everything.

i used whoopie slings and tree straps for almost 2 years on my hennessy, i then ordered a wbbb with the intention of changing out the webbing and buckles for whoopies........that's not gonna happen......really really like the all in one aspect, nothing to forget, set up and take down time are faster and easier and i can hang in a greater range of distances between trees, both closer and farther.......but like gmcttr said you'll pry try different systems on your own over time
