    Hello from Southern California

I'm a female, 62 years young and still lovin' the outdoors. I've been an outdoors person since I was 2. My parents were big on camping. I hike a lot and fly fish, and have backpacked a few times. Lately I've been getting in better shape, losing weight, and can now do long day hikes with no problem (carrying 8-10 lbs.). I've tent camped my whole life, but my knees are shot and I can't kneel on the ground anymore, so it semed to me that a hammock would be the perfect solution to getting out backpacking again.

I'm a complete noob at hammocks, but they've always intrigued me. After watching way too many YouTube videos of people using hammocks, I decided to dive in. I ordered a Blackbird double layer 1.1 with the adjustable strap system and an Integral Designs Siltarp2. Now I can't wait to get out for my first hang.

You can bet I've got loads of questions!

Welcome from another Callie Forny Un. Don't underestimate the "fiddle factor", but when you get it, it's the proverbial lightbulb. Jeez, I gotta go to work, what the heck am I doing here on HF? Yeah, it's that kind of forum.

Sounds great--Your on! Probably some great places to stealth camp up there. I live in Westwood, so the San Gabriels and Mt. Pinos are where I mostly ramble.
