Are you really trespassing if you are off the ground????
Are you really trespassing if you are off the ground????
I've done it several times during fair weather nights.
I normally hang somewhere inside venues for a quick kip, normally under the stage or seating.
This is awesome, I never thought to do anything like this. There are tons of wooded areas near me here in northern Illinois. And I just got a job doing ecological restoration so I'm in a new forest preserve almost every day. Can't count the times I've been at work and thought this would be a sweet place to camp.
Although I'm not sure how stealthy I can be with a bright green tarp and yellow suspension straps.
Hung in Cape Hatteras National Seashore today. Didn't stay the night so I'm not sure if it counts...
But I also work here so it doesn't matter anyways. On that note anyone visting the outer banks this summer give me a call!

Getting lost is not a waste of time.
I'll be sure to next time I'm up that way! I miss the other banks so much... My friend and I once rode our bicycles from Havelock to the Wright Brothers monument and back. In fact 5 years ago from this past weekend! I'm jealous, say hi to the islands for me. That's a slice of heaven out there.
That sounds like an awesome ride! I wish I had the equipment and time to do a trek like that.
Honestly my heart lies in the mountains out west, but when I was offered this job I couldn't resist. First time to the beach in about ten years, and now I live here. I'm growing to enjoy it. Except for the ticks... Where I'm from, we don't have ticks. My dog doesn't seem to care for them much either, but they sure do like him...

Do it all the time, as there isn't a lot of wilderness near Kansas City. This is from a bikepacking trip last weekend...pic was taken right at the edge of a powerline cut, in a county park. Very certain that nobody would walk by, much less spot us.
I occasionally stealth camp in a reserve/forest close to home, just as overnighter,
so I can get to know a new piece of gear before taking it on a long hike.
Yes, its bending the park rules, but I leave no trace & camp after dusk...
Does this count ? Not my own pic.....unfortunately.

Mountain views are good for the soul....& getting to them is good for my waistline.

I am planning a 21 mile longboard ride with 3 or 4 buddies. We'll skate a "rails to trails" paved pathway from Banks, Oregon to Vernonia. Stealth camp overnight (with hammocks) and then skate 21 miles back to Banks to our car. Should be fun. It takes about 4 hours to skate the 21 miles. Elevation change is about 900 feet.
