Greetings and Salutations from Beautiful Backwoods Alabama!

This forum has meant a lot to me whilst trying to get on board the hammock train... I have only been a hermit, lurker and sponge on this forum for the past year, and yet I have found so many great ideas, resources and contacts. I just wanted to say thank you to everybody that makes this happen.

I would especially like to thank Squidbilly for getting me back into backpacking and pointing me in this direction...

I hope to be able to add to the conversation here now that I have learned from some of the best.

    See you in the woods!

Welcome from Northwest Arkansas! I was a lurker for a long time, too. So much great info and helpful, friendly folks here.

Welcome! I live across the GA border near columbus, but Alabama is my hiking place of choice-------------I've spent lots of nights in the woods in your beautiful state! So many places to hike, without all the Atlanta traffic and crowds! Have you done the Pinhoti trail yet?
FYI: If you want to know what type a certain bear is, sneak up behind it and kick it. Then,
run like crazy and climb up a tree. If the bear climbs the tree and eats you, it's a black
bear. If the bear just pushes the tree over and eats you, it's a grizzly bear : )

Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me, either, just leave me alone.
