seems like if you made your coffee the night before and doubled up on the coffee, and then added creamer and sugar you would not need to burn fuel in the morning.what you would have would be a luke warm energy drink to have a no cook morning.i guess you could add a protien breakfast drink pack to it too.
I used a hot water bottle last night and it was great! I wrapped it in my fleece jacket so the jacket would be handy and already warm if I got cold enough to need it. Didn't need it during the night, but did when I went to get out of the hammock..
Keep movin', keep believing and enjoy the journey!
I'm going to have to give this a shot and see if it helps...
Okay, I read the first thirty pages of this post yesterday. I am getting ready to do a long weekend in November. My bag is a 0*, and although it isn't THAT cold early november in northern michigan, I was intrigued enough to try this method last night hanging in my garage. Worked like a CHARM! Moved the bottle back and forth between feet and thighs and soon realized I was warm enough to disengage the bottle completely for a while. This is an incredibly useful bit of information that will become part of my winter camping method from this point forward. Thank you all for the plethora of valuable knowledge!
Very long but very informative thread. I can't believe I read the whole thang... LOL
I will be trying this out on my next campout. I really like the idea of using the hot water bottles to preheat your hammock. Reminds me of the way people use to warm their beds back in the good ol' days when they didn't have indoor heaters.
I just made a reflectix cozy, and the nalgene bottle slips in nice and snug; will try it this weekend.
Will use a jetboil for quicker heating.
Just don't wrap the bottle with duct tape... The raw edges have enough left-over sticky that it tends to stick to things that you'd other wise probably not want it to stick to...
