I'd recommend what I use - the Nalgene Canteen series.
Platy bottle temp ranges aren't the same and the closure not as secure, IMO.
I keep my Nalgene bottle with a reflectix coozie. It is warm still when I wake up in the morning.
I have put hot water in those 20 oz pop bottles you can get almost anywhere. When I did that the bottle deformed badly (I believe that they are HDPE). Anyone out there put hot water in a HDPE Nalgene? Any problems with the bottles deforming?

I ended up getting sick last week after coming back from a camping trip and had the chills really bad. I couldn't get my body temp up high enough to fever yet so I used my nalgene bottle with hot water, wrapped that in foil then a t-shirt and it worked great to bring my body temperature up. Lasted a surprisingly long time before it ran out of heat.
Our boy scout troop uses this trick and its amazing how much it helps and how long the water stays hot. We put a sock around the nalgene to keep it from making your skin too hot.
First trip out for my wife she goes to bed at around 9 PM. I stay up with the dog (beating our chests, howling at the moon, you know... Guy stuff.) So anyway I decide to turn in around midnight, and before I do I get a Nalgene ready to throw in the hammock with her because the temp has been steadily dropping. I gently wake her and she says 'I'm a little cold' so I say 'try this!' Wow, that was a lifesaver. She slept soundly the rest of the night. In the morning she said she had literally just woken up with cold feet when I gave her the bottle.

Took my nephew out camping the other week. He is 10 and nothing but skin and bones. Twmp dropped below freezing and I could see him starting to get cold. Gave a hot water nalgene and he slept warm and cozy
It does work, I do it too - but nothing beats having enough insulation to begin with although I do like to toss a hot bottle in a few minutes before I climb inside on cold nights.
Hmmm..maybe I should make a cozy for my 2 liter camelback bladder.

I like to go solo - off trail - immerse myself in the area - explore - eat really well - and make it back home.
I wouldn't put boiling in but I boil then wait two to three minutes and add it or just heat up to a comfortable temp. I do it all the time. No leakage issues. I've heard this before and can't speak to temp ratings of the platypus but I wouldn't ever put boiling water between my legs no matter which bottle.
