I use the hard shell Camelback bottle and never have had a problem with it. Usually try to use just really hot water and I leave the cap loose for a bit before tightning it, putting it in a large baggie for redundancy and crawling into my cacoon.

Im scared to put water in my bed. I just put fire instead. (zippo style hand warmer, not really fire.)
Something to consider and try... Man I love this forum!

One of the things I like about a water bottle, is that especially in winter because of the cold air my mouth gets dry. A sip of warm water heats and quenches all at once.

Also, on those cool wet/damp days I can get a chill that is hard to overcome. The hot water bottle (inside 2 wool socks) in the hammock and between the thighs is great to get over a chill or mild hypothermia. I use a non-insulated stainless steel bottle that doubles as my coffee/hot coco mug.

Found these to be super handy! http://www.amazon.com/HEAT-WAVE-Inst.../dp/B000E48LVM Just boil the opacks then click the metal piece inside! Perfect!
I once was considering picking up some of these. Downside, they only last for a few hours and inherently have a weight penalty. Upside, they are reusable by placing them in a pot of boiling water during the next stop. Couldn't decide so, never bought them. How well do they really work?
