my machine has gone out of time twice now. the shop i bought it from charged me about 100. the second time i found an old man who charged me 45 and showed me how to do it. my machine is an old home portable all metal dressmaker. on it, to time it you just adjust the needle bar up or down to be at the right height as it passes the hook. the best description i can give is that the needle bottoms out so the very tip goes down into the circular space that holds the bobbin case. maybe a 1/16" into that space.

you also have to make note to make sure the needle bar isn't rotated when you tighten it back up. when it's loose you can move it up/down but also you can twist it so make sure you don't tighten it up so it's crooked.

good luck, if you can find a pic of where the absolute bottom if the needle is supposed to be you should me able to time it, it's pretty simple now that i've been shown how it's done. at least on my machine.

Impressive, considering when Adam (Stormcrow) first started sewing, he grumbled after finding out I am just as helpless, fumbled with his grandmother's machine, and finally remarked, "I can't BELIEVE you don't know how to work this.....You're a WOMAN!"
