    Neat Frost Design Meets ME

Being new to hanging and being uncomfortably cool on my first hang in the early spring last year I decided to figure out a way to insulate the bottom side before it got too cold. UQs are just too expensive, even if I wanted to try to make my own so I started researching pad systems

I came across Frost's neat sheet pad and figured I could do something similar.

To say I butchered it may be an understatement but it does work, at least on the living room floor. I'm going to give it a try this weekend.

I used a ridgerest (already had) and a WM blue CCF, some $1 bin camo nylon. I may have less than $10 in it not counting the RR I already had.

There is enough room to slide in an extra pad or sun visor. A quick roll produces a 8" diameter by 20" wide package. Wt. is well under my 3/4 Thermarest that I carry when on the ground.

So, with all due respect, thanks, and apologies to Mr. Frost, there is my first attempt at a pad.

Looks like a fine project...interested to hear how you like it.

What purpose does the neat sheet serve, other than a sleeve? Does it act as additional insulation or is it for 'enhanced' comfort?

For a few extra bucks you could use a GG 1/4" pad. They're huge so you can cut them to almost any shape for a hammock, plus they are much warmer than the blue CCF pads.

It looks great! Be sure to let us know how you like it.

I'll take a guess... I believe the almost cloth like neat sheet, serves well for sweat dispersion. But I think the guy who 1st started doing that was using a ccf pad instead of a thermreast.
The neat sheet probably enhances comfort because of it's cloth like feel too.

Trog hasn't been on HF since early Jan 09, so I don't know when he might see your question.
    And welcome to HF.

I'm deleting the post. There was a spammer there but the mods zapped him, so his link for enlargement pills or whatever is gone.

Yep, there was indeed a spammer post just before Cannibal's, but like C said, the spammer has been zapped.
