EVA vs. Z-Lite for Torso Pad

I'm looking at either a 1/4" EVA foam pad or a Z-lite pad for warmer temps as a torso pad (I have a UQ for colder temps). I like the look/feel of the z-lite but have read that the little indents can fill with condensation...not some thing I want. I have a small piece of 1/8" EVA and it fights me all the way when putting it inbetween the double layers of my hammock. I was thinking the 1/4" EVA pad would/might be easier...? Has anyone used both and like one better than the other?

The Z-lites are pretty stiff pads compared to EVA foam. I have not used a Z-lite in a hammock, but I don't think I would want to.

I use the Zlite in my bridge to supplement my underquilt when it is really cold. I keep it between the layers and it is great. The holes do fill with accumulated condensation, but this also takes it away from the hammock body, whereas a smooth pad, the condensation sits up on top and touches the hammock fabric. I have used it in gathered ends as well, but I find it to be a pain in a single, works not too bad in my dbl.

I really like the extra width of the 26"x48" from Jacks’R'Better.

Or for a bit less with the current sale and free shipping, you could get a 24"x74" from http://lawsonequipment.com/ and cut it to torso length.

They're out of stock right now, but if/when I have to use a pad, I very much like the Gossamer Gear version:

It's become my go to pad for winter because of this. I have two or three other sleep pads, and with this one, although it is not as flexible as the others, I just carefully take it out of the double layers in the morning, all the condensation is trapped in the honey comb design, and give it a good shake out! Seems to work! Got down to -14c the other night with the z-lite and a 3 season underquilt...was very warm, had to vent the top quilt. I also like that it folds down flat, fits really well up against the back of my pack. YMMV!

    Cheers!
