Handy Hammock - The Ultralight Hammock Stand

I'm so bummed! I received one of my two stands on Monday, package numbered 2 of 2, so I was really excited in anticipation of the 1 of 2 being delivered today. No such luck. I think the postal employees must have it set up in the back of the post office

Who all are still awaiting delivery?

Well, that does it. I tried to hold out and thought I had escaped, but you trapped me with your well-timed extension.

Hmmm, mine said 2 of 2 also but the entire thing was in the package. You might want to open that package just to see what all is in it

    Hopefully this image clarifies...

The image is very helpful. It shows something very close to what is in the PDF instructions. This image and the PDF show the line coming forward between the crossed pegs, then around the bundle of pegs. In the PDF, the ball passes under the line in front of the crossed pegs. The image above shows you making an additional loop in the line through which you pass the ball. The PDF instructions do not show such a loop.

The video shows the line exiting the back, then around the pegs, then under the line coming up from the middle of the base plate. The line never passes between the crossed pegs in the video.

I didn't mean to suggest that one strut was in the package. To clarity, I purchased two complete setups. So, I guess my wife will just have to wait until the postal guys finish testing hers.

    Finally Arrived!

It felt like I was waiting forever to receive the Handy Hammock since I received notification that it was shipped. I won't be able to set it up until next week, but will take pictures (and can't wait!). I will say, though, it was very well packaged for delivery and I couldn't believe how light in the hand it was! Hard to believe there's a full sized hammock stand in there! Anyone else thinking about changing the cords out with 'lash it' or something similar?

Re: Handy Hammock - The Ultralight Hammock Stand

Thinking about it... Also thinking about attaching all the pucks together in an hour glass shape so set up won't involved setting the hammock on the ground... Some video I saw said how to do it... I don't like setting my hammock in the dirt that is my yard...

But hey everything has it's limitations... I want to figure out how to get my WWM on it, that would be sweet and would be "low rider" cool...

You guys figure all that stuff out, so that when mine arrives in a couple weeks I have all the good info.

I have the struts set up, that part was easy, but the rain outside will have to subside before I can do anything else. So for now, I'll have to contend with being confused by your 'hour glass' description; though, I did notice there was something in the "Handy Hammock 2 Strut Kit" leaflet about making a mod to prevent the hammock from touching the ground:

"A) If you make up a cord to fit from link to link the handy hammock can be removed or rehung quickly and kept off the ground*. The struts will remain standing whilst you do so."

Of course, this also confuses me, which I'm sure will be completely alleviated once I've set this up for the first dozen or so times. If it's not pouring rain tomorrow I'll see if I can't fit a little time into my busy schedule to learn the set up. Looking forward to that fun!

I had to show my wife, of course, so she read over the manual and found some rather humourous anecdotes from the manual:

"[Don't] straddle or engage in unnatural acts in it"

"[Don't] leave wild animals or children unsupervised in it."

But it's okay to leave your domestic animals in your Handy hammock!

"[Don't] stage large dinner parties in a hammock. One adult only!"

So keep in mind, you can't have any dinner party larger than yourself!

"Remember 20 stones, more than that is pushing it."

Sleeping with 19 rocks in your hammock is fine; but 20 rocks? That's just going a bit overboard.

They'll have to make an American version so they won't confuse anyone when they open up a larger market over here.

This thing looks so cool, though. Loving the ultralight weight of the set up.
