Since I started this thread last fall I've tried some of the ideas posted here to keep my feet warm in my hammock in the winter and have had varying degrees of success. This weekend we had a little late season cold snap. I happened to be up in Young Harris, GA camping for the weekend and the lows at night were in the mid 30s. Saturday morning my feet got chilly as usual but last night I happened to remember that there was a fleece jacket in my truck so I decided to try Shug's suggestion and zipped the jacket up over the end of my hammock so it covered the footbox of my TQ and the foot end of my full length UQ. My sleep clothes were just my normal winter sleep gear included just a pair of loose fitting thck socks for my feet.

The result...my feet stayed toasty warm for a change and I was surprised to find that I'd even slept in to close to 7:00 before deciding it was time to get up and go mark my territory.

    Re: I'm Gettin' Cold Feet

Wonderful news! I have recently started taking my jacket and using it to enclose my feet inside my top quilt... though Shug's solution smells better...

John, I thought about doing that too but decided to try zipping it around everything. Only problem...now I have to wait another 9 months to see how low I can go. May have to make me a fleece and ripstop foot cover for winter backyard hangs...

I have also put my jacket in my footbox, and under legs and feet... cold legs=cold feet. I also sleep in a balaclava ...

I use a full length UQ and wear a pair of midweight thermals and sometimes a pair of fleece pants during colder weather so my legs usually aren't a problem...just my feet. If I had a balaclava I'd probably sleep in it in the winter. A stocking had does pretty good though

There are some great solutions here that I'll have to try. Thanks everyone for the info! On my last trip my feet were quite chilly, although not a sweat induced chill.

I'm probably a week out from my Ridge Runner being shipped. This thread is going to help this newbie. It can be 70 all day here and still below freezing at night. It maybe a challenge for me to stay warm. Wonder if the Lynx and Mamba will be enough? Guess time will tell. Can't wait to post an unboxing video.
