    Blackbird and JRB Quilts

I read the thread on BB and SF quilts, but what are you all finding out when using JRB UQ with the BB? Mule

They work great as a top quilt!

I've never used one as a UQ on the BB, but I did use one on my 'old school' Warbonnet ElDorado and it seemed to work fine, maybe a little more adjustments needed than on other hammocks, but I didn't notice any major issues. The BB cut isn't all that much different from the ElDorado so I assume they would work just fine.

Cannibal, Thanks. I am glad to hear from someone who has a little experience. Do you think the Snugfit would work better? How much better? Mule

The SnugFit fits just fine on every hammock I own, including my Warbonnets. I really like the SnugFit as a UQ and I love the JRB stuff as top quilts, so I'd have a hard time answering that without bias. That said, I'm sure the JRB quilts would work just fine. I just like the SnugFit and the WB torso quilts because there is barely any adjusting needed. The JRB quilts (rectangular ones) require a litte (very little) more work and I'm horribly lazy when I'm ready to sleep.

Sooooo, which JRB quilt are you looking at?

I have three of them. I have the Summer quilt, A No Sniveler and an Old Mountain Rag. All of the combinations you could think of work great on my bridges. It looks like to me that the only thing that would be different using them as UQs on the Warbonnets would be to offset the foot end to pull up on the foot box section instead of straight in line with the suspension straps. A few special bungees should do it, do you think?

Nah, I don't think you really need to worry about too much of an offset. Those quilts are wide enough that they will cover the footbox. The ElDorado's footbox is a little more of a radical 'out' than the BB because it has a tie-out line that pulls it out and up without your feet in place. I actually think the BB with no foot tie-out will be an even better fit now that I think about it.

I LOVE an excuse to test something, so I'll hang the BB tomorrow night and use my RMS in UQ mode and report back. I've had my eye on a nice little stealth site close to my place, this gives me a great excuse. Thanks!

    Well come on!

Summers out here are glorious; nice warm temps in the daytime, afternoon rain showers (starts between 4:00 - 4:30 you can just about set your watch to it), and nice cool nights.

I have room to hang at least 6 hammocks in my basement, so no worries about space indoors.
