If the 1lb weight is accurate, might have a winner here.

So they replied, polyethelene and 2.5lbs for the 10x10, deal killer....

I personally think that on something as big as a tarp, that camo does not matter so much. a good darker color would probably be just as good, and like everybody else has said...placement is the key.

The Cuban in camo from HG started off as a custom order from me. Adam is waiting for samples from the manufacturer for color match the last I heard.

Wonder how much those hammocks weigh? Nice fish seign too.
They weigh about a pound, Ghillie effect works great, Altitude is good, the more natural (broken, unorganized) the outlines of things the better, use color, texture, and terrain to hide, be in the unexpected places, tall thick vegetation is a bonus. Only use the tarp when really needed it will be your biggest indicator, a big square or triangle of anything looks like man was there no matter what cammo pattern you use. The smaller your profile the better. Unfortunately the rougher terrain that is excellent for hiding in, can be hard on fragile nylon hammocks. The netting ones are frequently pretty tough, they will take a broken string or two with no cause for worry of complete malfunction, easily camouflaged up, change color when adapted with tie-on stuff etc.. Maybe not as warm in some situations however. They are really adaptable for many uses as mentioned above for fishing and stuff. Happy stealthing.

Oh yeah almost forgot never hang higher than you are willing to fall.

Good point about not tarping if you dont have too

and since I'm socking lately its not a choice for me but trees nees pruning, nature does it all the time. I'm assuming in a case where I'd seriously be thinking I need a stealth or be dead type hang then a limb repositioned here or there might be ok compared to becoming zombie food.
That said simple cord from one tree to another (not the trees your hanging on) but two trees that block line of sight to your hang position, this cord could be adorned with limbs taken from some yards away...as in make your own blind.
Might have to do in on 4 sides, maybe just one. Depends.

That nylon net hammock really weighs a pound? I'd thought/hoped much lighter...would make a great gear hammock, or hammock under hammock for native insulation (dry leaves)=psuedo UQ or UQ supplement.

That includes some hefty straps. It could easily be lightened some with whoopies. I just haven't done it yet.

Back to camo though a little string and lots of ingenuity will take you a long way your getting the idea. The branch thing works well especially if you can keep them alive. Just tie them in a new direction to break up your outline.

Grey Lash It? It has to be more stealthy than bright yellow.

There's also the TechLine from DIY Gear Supply. I'm pretty sure it's the same stuff that gmcttr linked--but, if not, it's very similar. I use it in 1.2mm for my bear bag, and I find that it's easier to search for the olive brown bag than it is for the tiny line against any kind of background.

    Hope it helps!
