Great job DBLOCK. You're machine looks like it's in realy good condition. If you haven't already, finish lubing all the specified points in the manual. Some are under the machine. The "motor grease cups" on the bottom of the motor/gear housing have wicks in them that carry lubricant up to the armature shaft and bushings and provide the required lubrication. The lubricant needs to be able too wick when warm and regular grease is designed to not do this. I also suspect that graphite or teflon additives might clog the wicks after a few decades.
There is a good chance that the wicks need to be removed and cleaned in alcohol to remove dried lube from them as well. Use needle nose pliers to pull them and be careful. You will be pulling on a metal clip that holds a spring and the wick. Avoid deforming the clip and be aware that the spring is attached to the wick and easily bent as well.
Now get back to work and finish the job.
