Question Compressed size of KAQs (New River)?

Just curious as to how small most of the KAQ pack down? Specifically the New River?

    Thanks!

I was sort of curious about this too as I just bought a NR (got my confirmation it was shipped just a few mins ago). It's synthetic so I would expect it to be a bit larger than a down UQ. It comes with a stuff sack but I believe that is just for storage (there is a photo in one of teh threads)... Think someone said in one of the threads below they are able to get it down to a 8x8 compression sack. However I think i'm just gonna do what the others suggest and just stuff it in the bottom of my pack w/o a sack.
    These might help some...

In the stuff sack it's more like 7 X 14. Not very small but it's nice and warm.

Full Size KAQ's (Potomac & Both Lengths of New Rivers) all fit and ship in the same stuff sack....the one pictured above next to a 2 litter soda bottle....yes one of the funny shaped 2 litters that look like the 20oz bottle. This is shown with a fair bit of compression on the quilt showing that there is a good bit of extra room in the stuff sack. This extra room allows the quilt to squish around a bit and conform more to the shape of the pack. But like ToyGun posted just loose stuffing the quilt in the pack and packing on and around it will make it fill the nooks and crannies of the pack and fit easiest around your other gear.

No fair pushing it down with your hand to make it look smaller.....that's cheating

Not cheating thats the size it can get to if you need it to....which is the question for most folks. I could put it in a 50 gallon trash bag and it would loft and fill that too...but thats not the way most would pack it

That's actually a bit smaller than I'd imagined and would still easily fit inside the sleeping bag comp of my pack. sweet and thanks for the info and pic.

Storage wise, is it okay to keep it in the stuff sack or should i hang it?

I was impressed that it packed down so small as well. I've used a climashield sleeping bag for several years, but when I see my friend with his down bag the size of a football, I'm always shocked.

I keep mine stored in a big mesh laundry bag so that it's not compressed until I pack/stuff it to go hanging.

Storage is best done laid our flat. Second best is in a large tote or laundry bag. If doing a tote then a few desiccate packets are strongly recommended.
