I might be able to pull something off this weekend. I havent slept in the hammock since saturday night, so I'm past due. Are you looking at a saturday departure? What time? I'd like to try and make it.

I'm going on Friday around 1:00 and leaving Sunday morning, barring come catastrophe. I'm going to stay at the burrell's ford campground, because I'm feeling lazy and don't want to hike much. Lots of trails around if you are so inclined. Maybe I'll put up a couple of signs saying Hammock Forums. Good to see you if you work it out.

I'm headed out now. Going south from the Burrell's Ford parking lot to the campground. Wander by if you are in the area!

Have fun. I wish I could come, but my two big final papers are staring at me needing to be written. I'll be out there for another FHT thru hike attempt starting Saturday the 15th so enjoy it this weekend for me and warm her up to me being there soon.

I had a lovely solo hang on the river. My husband, Sherpa, hiked in with me on Friday and carried a little wood in for me. Friday night had a nice fire started and two trout fishermen came by and asked if they could warm their hands. After they got warmed up I showed them my hammock. Saturday night my Sherpa came to join me for dinner and brought me some more firewood. I just love that man! I had used more fuel than anticipated heating water for my hot water bottle, so Saturday night I set my bottle close the the fire to pre-warm the water. Unfortunately, the heat did something to the top and it leaked when I checked it after filling. So I transfered it to my Nalgene soft canteen, which also started leaking. So no water bottle that night. To help keep warm I tossed my poncho over the ridgeline to keep some heat in, and that worked pretty well. I left my head open, so condensation didn't build up. Great way to spend the weekend. Now back to reality and the Christmas rush.

That Sherpa, he's a good man.
Glad you had a successful solo GrannyPat.
    Nice save using that poncho

Thanks for sharing your adventure! That's a great place to hang. Too many obligations this weekend or me and Buddy would have joined you.
Everyone ought to believe in something....I believe I'll go set up the hammock!
