Just curious. Has anybody started using tree straps or tree-huggers as part of their tarp suspension? I'm thinking of just attaching my tarp to the tree straps of my hammock suspension.

Yup, been using a MSH with a toggle and running lines to the tarp from there. I think if you really snug up zing it, it has potential to do some damage. I also enjoy the additional putzing it provides. If I wanted to be absolutely minimalist, I might not mess with it, but paddling I can afford a little extra weight. I don't feel bad about having a nice taut tarp.

Every time I hang my tarp I think, "Gee, I should really be using a tree straps." Then it always seems to fall off my radar. I am gonna start carrying a little log-book to make such notes to myself. Now, I just need to remember to get a little log-book. :P

Since it's not load-bearing, I really don't worry about it.
I used to be a somebody, now I just camp.
It's not load bearing until you add wind or snow, being in FLorida I only have to worry about one of those. I'd be curious to find if there is any damage from taught small lines on a tarp.

In my experience, attaching the tarp to the hammock tree straps can be tricky because what is good and taut when you are out of the hammock becomes saggy when you get in, unless you configure something with a lot of shock cord that can take up the slack on both the ridgeline and tie-outs. Maybe if you attached right where the strap comes out from the tree it would prevent this, but that may leave your tarp higher than you want for decent protection from the elements. I have experimented with it a little but never was satisfied with the results. I guess the closest workable solution has been the single line suspension.
To me it seems like the hennessy set up. The only issue is the sag.
If you ain't havin' fun, you're doin' it wrong
Didn't consider the sag issue. I'm also thinking of just carrying an extra set of treehuggers just for the tarp. My last hang was in some piney woods and as I started removing the tarp, bark started breaking off thee tree. The South Jersey Pine Trees seem just a little fragile to me.

I just picked up some small rubber air line from work im going to be giving this a try next chance I get to get out not sure when thats going to be. I just plan on runing my zing-it threw it
I bought 3/4" tubular webbing and run my suspension cords through it. I did this after I noticed my zing-it had cut into the trees at the previous hang.
