NJ>Open to Suggestions>1-2 December>Just want to get out for a night

I'm thinking of going someplace local Saturday afternoon to mess with some new gear and then head out Sunday morning, and wouldn't mind some company. I'm open to any location within a reasonable drive of central NJ, preferably someplace that can have a camp fire. Any takers?

Wharton State Forest, Stop in at the Check in at Batsto Village. Plenty of campgrounds to hike into. Unfortunately I have plans for this weekend or I'd join you.

Yeah, Batona Camp is my default location, but I'm willing to go elsewhere if anyone wants to meet up. I just want trees and not to have to drive too far. A camp fire and some company are a plus.

Fishbait, are you interested in going up to Stoaks or Highpoint to fish Flatbrook this weekend?

Unfortunately I heading to Vieginia for the weekend. Have some repair work to do on the porche of my hybrid trailer. It's a 35' travel trailer that's permanantly parked at a camp ground. The original owner added a porch an TS Sandy lifted a few shingles.

BTW Dylan - I have a book for your wife about hiking with kids in NJ. She asked about places to take the boys while at the Spring MAHHA.

That looks tempting, but it's about 3 hours away for me and may not be able to get home early enough on Sunday.

Is it the Zatz book? We picked up a copy. Lots of cool hikes in that one. Thanks for thinking of us!

biggcarl, I always keep the 501 trips in mind, but they always fall on the wrong weekends for me. Tomorrow night is probably my only shot to get out until the NJ Winter Hang.

KK, Round Valley is a good option to, and close by. Thanks.
