Question New to this hanging thing ~ HELP!!!

I just received my Hennessy Hammocks and Snake Skins. I have also ordered some Slap Straps Pros and picked up two carabineers for each of them. Found out I could go with the Slap Strap Pros for around $1.50 more because I needed two sets and the price range put me into free shipping. They are also 22” longer and 4oz lighter. That will give more space and adjustability between trees.

Does anyone have a video or pictures on how to install the Snake Skins?

Will the hammock, bug screen, and rain fly fit into the Snake Skins?

    Thanks,

    Tom

Yes, hammock, bug screen, and rain fly will fit in snakeskins.

The Slap Straps are nylon and will stretch quite a bit which is not good. You are also limited as to exactly how wide you hang your hammock using the loops.
I'd cancel that order and search here for better suspension options such as rings or cinch buckles and polyester webbing.

Looks like the slap straps will be here tomorrow, but that doesn't mean that I have to open them.

    Thanks!!

I hope so! I just hope the one I got for my son is not to small. I may have to use his.

Hennessy Hammock has a special going on. If you buy from their web site you can get two Hammocks for the price of one along with rain flys for both of them and snake skins for both ~ couldn't pass it up ~ good until the end of December I think.

I guess my question is do the straps ever stop stretching? They really look like the way to go as far as flexability. If they stop stretching, they may be worth a try.

    Hi and welcome
This set of photos show the complete hammock inside the snakeskins and with one half of the snakeskins pulled back showing the hammock, bugnet and tarp.
    Have fun with it.

I don't think they ever quite stop stretching, especially when wet. When I first got my hammock, it was an HH and I would end up almost touching the ground every morning until I stopped using the Nylon. Mule

Mule is right, they don't stop stretching. Nylon is evil like tha tfor hammock supports. I think ENO continues to make the Slap Straps out of nylon for it's cost effectiveness. Essentially, they're crap and not worth the time, trouble or money. As soon as you get them, ship them back and get a refund. You're a lot better off, IMO, going with polyester or polypro straps, both of which are available from Strapworks. Also, polypro straps are available from Speer Hammocks. Once you chosse your webbing, do a search for "cinch buckles" and "ring buckles" here on HF. Check both out, do the reading and ask questions if you have them to make a good, solid, informed decision as to which attachment/adjustment method is right for you. I've used both, but have to admit to liking cinch buckles quite a bit more than the ring buckles. Either way you go, good luck and hope all goes well with your new hammocks.

Nylon is high-memory stretch, which means it retains the memory of where it started from and returns to that point very easily. Good for climbing b/c it absorbs the shock of a fall better, but bad for hammocking b/c you continually end up closer to the ground in the morning.

Polyester/polypro are low-memory stretch, which means that once it's stretched out it doesn't remember how to get back to the starting point...bad for climbing, good for hammocking.

Slap straps are nylon. Bad. If you really like the idea you can make your own from poly webbing.
