    My recent hang

    Hi All
On Friday night I set off to stealth camp at a place I had found once before. There in the bush was a barge that must have been used on the dam in Mundaring but it had long been abandoned because it was a long way from the waters edge and trees had grown up all around it.

I had the gps co-ordinates for it so the plan was to hike out and find then hang the night there and hike back in the morning. I had a very good time and it was nice to get away for a while.
So here are are few pics of my time in the bush.
    I hope you enjoy them
    Gunn

    PS;
have a look at these co-ords in google earth and you will see where I was for the night.

    The barge

I was trying out a new way to tie out the sides of my Neo 9x9 camo tarp, it really opens up the inside this way.

In the morning I awoke to this view about 50ft away.

    Another view of the dam

While I was there I tried out a new down vest I had bought the week before.
    Shame about the model

Nice trip and photos Gunn. Wow, it's summertime down there. It looks nice and warm. It's cold and snowy here in the Pacific Northwest of the US. At quick glance, the lake photos look like a place in the Eastern US.

Did you know there's a trip report section of Hammockforums.net? What species of pine trees are those? What type of land ownership is that you're hanging on? Is it privately owned but open to the public by custom like UK or Scandanavia? Or is it public/government land like a park?

Man, GP, that looked like a lot of fun down under! Glad you enjoyed it. All you have to do for a perfect trip is take a pretty model next time! LOL!

Do you have a long term drought down there? Land locking that barge?

    Hi All
Yes it was a good but quick trip. I am planing with a couple of other guys to walk the whole circumference of the dam with an overnight stop in another place.

The pines are all plantation pines ans as far as I know we have no native pines like these in Western Aust. These are all pinus radiata.

The land is all government land and would come under the water corp, hence the stealth needed. We have had a drought for a long time now and are under water restrictions. The barge must have been there are long time as the trees between it and the water are quite large.

The model is the best I could do on short notice

I have another photo of an old bridge I crossed on my way to and from the camping spot, if the dam was full or in winter it would be under water I'll have to dig it up
