Arrow NC> Uwharrie Yates Place> Apr 12-14 Spring has Sprung Hang

Headed to Uwharrie, Yates Place early Friday for the weekend.

I'll just call it the "Uwharrie Spring has Sprung Hang".

I need to tweak some gear before attending this hang the following weekend: https://www.hammockforums.net/forum/...ad.php?t=63722

The weekend weather forecast is 'springlike' Imagine That!
Come on out test your gear, chat with some other hammockers, practice making fire without a lighter or fuel and give those hiking muscles a spring workout.

All slow-hikers, newbies, Uwharrie veteran's, and high-mileage hikers are welcome. Cause, You know...everyone is welcome.

Lots of hiking opportunities, bikes too. I'll be working a trail building/maintenance project Saturday instead of hiking
    - that shouldn't stop anyone else from hiking Saturday, of course!;-)

I'm Still open to a short hike on Friday afternoon and on Sunday (given sufficient vitamin-I Saturday night). PS: I'm a slow-hiker...

Facilities: Free- no fees. Primitive campsites with picnic table, lantern post, fire ring, and grill. Vault toilet, no water close by (bring your own water (BYOW).

Here's the location, Yates Place Camp, a few miles West of Troy, NC: http://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_...rdb5378693.pdf

I should arrive at Yates Place on Friday morning, God willing, so I'll try to secure a site with lots of room for hammocks.

    Hope to see ya!

Have a great vacation! See ya next time.

Looks like I'll get to test some raingear Friday morning as well as some 3-season insulation overnight. May just carry the winter quilts - in case - but expect to only need 50* insulation for sleeping.

Hope to arrive early before the rain quits and practice setting up (tarp first) in the rain. Also will try and test a Goal Zero solar panel and a BioLite stove while I'm there.

You will be missed TallPaul! Nice Linville Video by the way
Maybe I'll see ya at the Smoked Butt Hang...

Yes! Slept in the XLC every night for over a week.

It's no bridge hammock; but definitely the most comfy gathered-end of the three I've tried so far.
