    About the camping location

The idea is really for people to hang where they want along the river. We will be setting up a 'base camp' of sorts at the East Fork Bridge for people to congregate and for the group activities (Like the Raffle).

You can also think of this (base camp area) as the FAMILY area where there will be kids running and playing in the open area

The OP mentioned Burrel's Ford as the location. Are you refering to the established campground or one of the many sites off the trail north of BF in the direction of Ellicott Rock? I know there is a large site where we have had group hangs before about 1.5 miles north of BF where the East Fork Trail intersects the CRT.

Unfortunately, SWMBO has decreed that I can only pick one hang per month, and I've already committed to Smoked Butt. I really hope y'all have a blast, and I'll almost surely make this one next year!

As I recall, there are at least 10 sites between the trailhead and the basecamp site at the 1.5 mile mark, but they are all spread out pretty nicely. Some of those will likely be taken, but I'm sure suitable sites can be found closer to the car if people would rather not hike in all the way to the East Fork. There are no sites within two miles if you head south from the trailhead, so don't go that way unless you want to hike to join the group!

Excellent... plenty of space there, good hanging. I'll be up for a hike of some length on Sat if anyone's interested.

Found this map which might be useful to some...

The shortest hike to reach the designated base camp starts just off BF road below the outhouse before you hit the bridge and heads north (1.5 miles). You can also start at the outhouse and take the official CRT/FHT which meanders a bit before joining the previous trail (2.7 miles).

I have parked at the Fish Hatchery and taken the East Fork Trail down to the same location (2.4 miles). That trail is not quite as easy as the CRT, but it's far from a challenge.

There is also a parking lot near the Fish Hatchery for the FHT which you could take 3.2 miles down to where is joins the CRT plus another 1.1 miles to the group hang (4.3 miles). I've not hiked that trail before.

There is also the option of starting on one of the other Ellicott Rock approach trails from the north and hiking down to meet the group.

I don't know what the Sat itinerary is, but if there is time, I was thinking of doing a loop hike from base camp hiking to Sloan Bridge and then the Fork Mountain trail to Ellicott and back to camp. I believe this is about 15m.

That's a great hike, but a little ambitious for me. My main goal that Saturday is to enjoy a nice nap next to the river. If I get to feeling energetic, I'll hike to Kings Creek Falls.

O.K., time for a dumb question. I have maps and a computer, but for the life of me I can't see a good route from north Ga. to Burrels Ford. If anyone can give me some tips I will be most thankful. I will be traveling north on Ga 515 from Cherokee county. Thanks.
