    DIY UQ warmth factors

Howdy folks! So I have been researching how to sew a down UQ and have found great videos online. Greatly appreciated! I am also slowly accumulating the supplies.

But what factors do I take in to consideration so I can get it down to a certain temperature?

I.E. I want a 15 degree UQ - how much down do I buy? What height should the baffles be to gain the appropriate loft - how much loft is appropriate?

I plan on buying 850 down as it is a bit cheaper than the highest end.

I wonder if there are any videos floating out there where a specific 15 degree bag is made (this way I can copy that verbatim )

    Thanks!

Can't be too far off a 20 degree quilt. Slight overstuff should do you just fine in my opinion.

CatSplat has a calculator for roughly estimating temperature ratings in this thread.

    Hope it helps!

Yes - use the calculator to to estimate temp range.

I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."
