    DIY Fabric; A-TACS Two Questions

    Hello DIYers,

I have checked online to find some camouflage ripstop to make a single layer hammock from; having wore myself out on the roll of ACU magnafabrics.

I have a line on the A-TACS Foliage Green pattern:

"$4.10/yd A-TACS FG nylon ripstop pure. Weight is around 1.9oz/sq yd. 2nd quality, fabric is 1st quality"

    My two questions:

    1) This fabric is 60" wide, and I can get 200 yds of it. Would this be good to piece together for a warbonnet clone, or to make a single layer gathered end?

    2) Would it be allowable to organize a group buy for this, at this price, and would there be takers? (two part questions)

Pictures of "hard chargers" with gear in the pattern:

Looking at the site the fabric is 500 or 1000 denier, with a poly-urethane coating + dwr. So, typically with the coating the fabric would be closer to 3 oz/yd. Seems heavy and impractical for a hammock.
    Nice pattern, though.
    got any samples??

The link was to the brand's website. I have a contact with the fabric weight mentioned, uncoated. it is 1.9 ripstop.

He does have some PU coated and DWR, but I am like you, I don't think that would work with a hammock, or really a tarp. waiting on samples also.

I might be interested in a group buy. I want to make some tarps and maybe another hammock.
You'll find me hanging somewhere in the sunshine state.

Dude, DIY Gear Supply has 1.1oz woodland camo ripstop, 1st quality, 64" wide for $4.95 per sq yd. breathable uncoated. And you can buy as little as you want. Seems like a better deal than that. It's perfect for hammocks, I've made a couple from it.

Pretty sure these guys are going for this specific camo pattern. You can get woodland camo rip stop for much cheaper then that when on sale. I have a mill end store by me that you can get it for $1.99 a yard on sale. Keep your eyes open for sales and you can save lots of money
Don't take life so seriously, its not permenant.

Well, I think that since you two are the only ones showing interest right now, I am just going to order 20 yds. for myself.

Once I get it in, see the fabric, etc, I can send a sample to you two, and/or then forward the contact information so you can get hold of the seller directly.

It doesn't seem like this is the right time of year for getting a group buy together...Christmas, winter time? Besides, this is really for my Christmas present :{)
