What's Your Preferred Method Of Tarp Setup?

I currently have a ZPacks Regular Cuben Tarp fastened at each end (along the ridge line) with two Dutch hooks that are attached to the ridge line using prusiks.

I like the ability to be able to move my tarp using the prusiks instead of having a staticly positioned tarp.

What do you guys use, and why? Would love to hear what former setups you used to use, and what you moved to.

Dutch's Tarp flyz tied to tarp and Dutch hook around tree to line. Moves easy to equalize over hammock. Been using this method now for about 8 months and easiest I have found so far.

That's the way I am going to be doing my tarp in the future as well. Going to have those ridgelines with all the trimming in the store starting next week too.

Seperate line on each tree. Prusik loop on each line. Tarp has mini biners that clip into prusik loops. Tarp is up and adjustments are easy. If I loose the biners I can use a small stick to put in loop of tarp and then secure in prusik. I'm one for keeping it simple and having a back up plan (and know your knots).

I use a continuous ridgeline sometimes under the tarp sometime over the Tarp
Prusik loop on each end. Tarp has mini biners that clip into prusik loops with shock cord

I go around the tree and bring the line to a knot bone for adjustment


I like that I can hang the hammock after the tarp and adjust the tarp centered over the hammock

I sometime will hang my DIY Hillbilly Hammock patio lights from the ridgeline
instead of my ARL in my hammock

Individual spyderline lines at each "corner" tied to trees with slippery tautline hitches. All knots, no hardware.

I tried that method briefly but went back to my CRL tied separately from the tarp. I have a 2.2mm zing it line that I secure to one tree with a small biner, the other end gets tensioned using a tarp cross. The tarp body connects to the line with a pair of klemheist knots. I've had better luck with those than a standard prussic.

The "V" shape on each end wasn't really a big advantage. I've found the hammock suspension ends up almost as tangled up with the end of the tarp depending on the angle. YMMV
