Looking for Suggestions for my next DIY Hammock

    Hey folks,

I have a ton of 1.o ACU ripstop from the group buy and was looking to build another DIY hammock.

In the past, I have always used the same basic design with only slight modifications... A claytor mosquito clone. I'm looking to branch out a bit. Here's what I definitely want to include:

    No Net! Open hammock
Double layer (I use a pad)
    Lightweight
Works well for a taller fellow (I'm 6'4")
Doesn't need to have a structural ridgeline (I have always used claytor clones)

I was going to do an ENO clone since that what I'm used to. But after perusing the forums I was thinking of doing a gathered end with knotty stretch mod on the head end and some sort of footbox. Knot sure how this will work with a pad in the double layer and if those mods will add unnecessary weight. In the past, I have always slept in the hammock with my body in the middle of the hammock as I am primarily a side sleeper. Whatever design I choose must work with a wide pad as that isn't going away any time soon (I'ts the frame for my pack).

As always, Thank You for any suggestions. You guys are the best!

WW Micro clone. The Knotty mod keeps the pad in place. 11' long, 62" wide. I'm only 5'9" and can get lost in it. Adjustable ridge line is a nice touch when you're fiddling with different hangs.
I'm always up for some 1.0 ACU if you want to sell some off. You may want to check your weight against the load bearing tolerances of 1.0 - that's pretty thin stuff.

Just looked at that hammock and that's an interesting idea... basically add the knotty mod to a gathered end hammock, right?

And I would be going double layer which should handle my weight no problem (I'm 180lbs). I like the double layer to keep the pad from not being in the hammock and in place as well.

I agree. 11', for an open hammock a knotty stretch side for the foot end is all you need..

I'm a little scared to try a bridge...

Is the BIAS a channel end like and ENO or claytor?
