Is a sil tarp worth it?

No not really the guylines they give are crap and and they are eno. Look at the cheepness of the warbonnet mamajamaba it is cheaper and more awesome you get a bigger bang for your buck and all the stuff he makes are us made. Never Fall prey to eno you will regret it like I did. By the way all of their tarps are silnylon.

I just took a delivery of material including 22 meters of 1.4 silnylon, the only thing I have to compare is my dd 4mx4m pu coated tarp, I struggle to get the dd in the bag even when I fold it very neatly, as the material came I slid it in the bag... easily I could probably get another 10-15m in. For me, weight isn't a big issue atm, but pack size really is, so yes when my tarps are finished they will be worth it!

So far, my entire DIY setup of 10'x12' silnylon tarp, double bottom hammock with mosquito netting, Climashield UQ, CCF pad, whoopie slings and all associated riggings cost less than 1 Cuben fiber tarp.

If there was no other alternative than having to pay the price of a Cuben tarp in order to get into hammock camping, I could not bring myself to consider it. The strong DIY aspect of this line of equipment has been very attractive to me.

Just my considered opinion.
