if you look at the scratch tree it looks like a tree i saw by a bob cat den ,they sharpen their claws lika a house cat.cant say for sure ,but it could be that too.its the right height ,and the width of the debris would indicate the width of the claw, see how fine and narrow the strips are?cant say for sure though.

thanks for the trip report Gideon. I enjoyed reading it and even how you formatted it.

It sounds like you took away so good info. My winter goals are to dial my meals better - try out things before going as you suggested; and to get the UQ /warmth thing figured out better. I've done probably 3-4 one nighters and each time it is getting better.

Sounds like a great trip to take. And seems as though you took the time to learn a few things about your ger and yourself as well, always a good thing in my book. Thanks for taking us along.

Hairbear, you could be right about a bob cat; I've never seen one do it that I knew of but you're right about the height of the scratching; it would fit. I've seen bear done at that height too; black bear are smaller than most people think and they'll even scratch when sitting on their bottom. So there's another choice! If it was a bobcat he really worked it over or he came back a few times!

    Good thinking....
