    Big South Fork

Hoping to be in the BSF next week on 20-22. Anyone going to be hanging in the area around the Bandy Visitor Ctr area? I'm planning to hike/hang between Grand Gap Loop & Station Camp Creek. Still in the "possibility" stage, but I'm working hard to get away.

enjoy your hike. I am pretty sure but the Grand Gap Loop doesn't have any water

Thanks, yes, no water on the Grand Gap loop. I went from Leatherwood Ford back to Bandy VC about this time last year. We camped on Fall Branch before we went up and then on the way back down to Bandy. This time I plan to stay on the bluff between North side of Grand Gap loop and Station Camp Creek. The Ranger says there are a couple of water sources in that area.

Yep, one is hidden on the left side of trail under a small bluff (trickle). Great place to get out of weather. This is where a group of us stayed last year.

There is a creek about 1/2 way that is the best source but may be low this time of year.

I would camp at the creek right before you get to Grand Gap Loop. Set up camp then hike the bluffs and return to that site. It is protected from the wind and plenty of water.

Good hiking, great place to get out
