Just got this in from LSHT Club:

Hikers—Good news! At Saturday’s Coalition meeting with the USFS, Ranger Warren Oja said that he is working with the Forest Supervisor’s Office in Lufkin and USFS Law Enforcement to allow backpackers to camp along the LSHT during hunting season. He hopes that approval will be forthcoming and by next hunting season hikers will be allowed to camp along the trail (hunters will still be required to camp in designated Hunters’ Camps).

Is it too early to plan an "Its Hunting Season And We Don't Care." hang for October of next year?

probably not to early to start a new thread.
Sections are still closed however? Due to the drought and tree issue? We can't like thru hike all 96 miles?

Still a few areas closed and there was no announcement of opening Section 2 as was promised a couple of weeks ago.
