Cost is a factor, but I'd consider the cut and length. Cut is a bigger issue than length for me. My tarp is only 10' long and I have more than enough coverage for my 9'x4.5' hammock. I'll be curious to see what the long term testing will reveal. Thanks for bringing something different to my attention.

I like the idea of full cuben with no seam on top. No possible seam failure of weatherproofing or worse, tearing. Also if the 90% silnylon is cheaper than 100%, I guess all other factors notwithstanding, it would help your bottom line budget on a hybrid tarp with the "see-thru" on top and "privacy" coverage on bottom.
I like the lower seams idea, may try that with my new DIY I'm about to make.
    Good find and interesting...

Well with all the interest, I guess that I have no choice but to buy it and post the results. After convincing my wife to sit through a thunderstorm. I will be back!
Really though, I will give it a go and see what I can do with it, then report back with my conclusion.

That or let her take a nap and then turn the sprinklers on

The site seems to have an ultralite emphasis, for sure, so I wouldn't say its too short, only that it doesn't give the abundance of coverage we've seen trending in tarps, partially due to the trend of longer hammocks. Just a little more technical gear. That said, its too short for me. But probably not for your wife.

Cuben only comes 54" wide, right? So you're going to have a seam regardless and I like the idea of no top seam. Kinda makes sense to use the sil to narrow the cost difference. Tarp tenters have been using flat tarps for a long time and there's probably a sensability in this design that the flat tarp offers more multifunctionality than the cat cuts do.

Kelty tarps are designed to be hung on a diagonal, she has more coverage with a 9' kelty than this one.

I was talking more about the weight difference. My wife is pretty small.
