First Hammock trial run on a nice relaxing day hike! Tons of pics!

Two friends and I went out on a day hike out into Myaka River state park.

We were out there from about noon, to sunset which was around 6pm.

One of them brought his ENO singlenest hammock which I talked him into buying this morning, his only test run was on a set of 4x4s he set into the ground in his backyard. So he wanted to give it a good run today.

When we got to our destination, we setup a temporary camp, which was nothing more than a ground blanket, a hammock, and packs strewn everywhere

We setup his ENO with the slapstrap pros in less than 30 seconds, and we all gave it a test run one at a time while the others ate and played with the dogs.

I REALLY hope my grand trunk camo hammock that's coming monday will be as comfy as this ENO singlenest. This was my first time relaxing in an actual hammock that isnt made of rope and spreader bars, Its FANTASTIC!!

I loaded a single photo on the forum of me crashing in the ENO.

    Some good photos. Nice tick.

You might want to read up on the Slap Straps (search, esp. under the ENO thread) and take them back if you can.

I always find it odd but inviting when i see someone in short sleeve shirt on the same continent as me and i'm in a snowy winter. Glad you had a good day

Nice pics. Looks like a good day.

I tried ring buckles on my Hennessy and found whoopies to be faster and lighter.

Please fill out the survey linked in my signature. Recording day hikes is just as important as recording overnight hammock stays since the Florida pilot program encompasses both day and overnight use. Tnx!

Looks like you are in for the long haul. Ya got the fever! You might find that grand trunk to not be as comfortable as your ENO. The fabric is thinner and it lays a little different with the sides being looser. If you're handy you can put a couple cinch chords on the sides using Knotty's footbox mod. If you do a thread search it should come up. Have fun!

I filled it out. Dunno what it's for exactly

And I don't really mind the weight, what I'm not an ounce counter yet. The heavier things are for me at the moment the more of a work out I'm getting. I work at my first inactive job in my life and it's really bothering me, my pack I've made is plenty heavy by itself, but I like the strength it has, and I'm almost sure it'll survive longer than most of the civvy packs that are made to be light.

    Thank you.

Current legislation prohibits the use of hammocks in Florida State Parks. We are currently nearing the end (April) of a one-year pilot program to determine if that legislation may change. The survey helps let those managing the program know that we (hammock hangers) are using the parks and taking advantage of the opportunity to hang legally.

    Every little bit helps.
