I just camped at Samuel P Taylor State Park last weekend, it's in the grove of giant redwoods on Lagunitas Creek, near Petaluma. Great facilities for car camping, I only have backpacking gear so I just bring that with me and relax. Beware: extremely invasive raccoons will steal anything not buttoned up, so be cautious about leaving things out overnight.

Hopping in here many years late. I would love to come to any sort of NorCal group hang. I poked around in the forums and didn't see anything in this area. I currently live in Santa Cruz, but would go anywhere within ~5 hours to meetup with everyone.

Aww, one of 2 weekends in the next 2 months I have to attend a wedding.

Maybe I can convince my wife to come up to Boggs after the ceremony with me!

Gents... Glad to see Hangers from Nor-Cal... I live in Contra Costa County also looking for some places to camp and Hang. I am most interested in bringing my Boy ( Flat Coated Retriever )... he has his own hammock. Not a big hiker but can do a couple miles a day. I don't have an UQ so looking for weather above 45-50 if possible.
Just put up a hang in my back yard to test gear.

I'm in Vacaville. We moved here this past summer. Used to hang in Ohio with Forum members, and we attended MAHHA Spring Hang last spring in PA. Let us know if anyone plans a Hang out here. My three sons and I all have hammocks. Happy New Year!!

I live in Concord. Good to hear from some hangers in this area! Kormi, those posts you're using for your backyard hang are awesome !! They look new, did you put them up just for your hammock? I did an overnight hang on my back deck when i first got my hammock. It was the best hang, I woke up and saw a shooting star, all from my backyard! I also back then didn't have an under quilt, I was using a foam camping pad I had and it worked OK. I'm up for doing a hang sometime soon!

@ GnomeBuddy....YES put the post up just for hanging, last weekend... want to start hanging but want to make sure to test gear before I go out. Kaje ( my Flat Coat Retriever ) did not like his hammock to much...Wife thinks i'm nuts... I like it...get to try different suspension types and ridge line configs. Testing my cook stoves and water gear. I think i need a UQ. Next investment. In the mean time I will just hang in my backyard. Looking forward to hang soon...I would like a little warmer. Do u know if we can hang at Big Basin CG?

Thanks for the shout out GnomeBuddy.
