1.7 double layer. I wanted one that would hold 2 people safely. Given I haven't used it with one or two yet.
Is that too much to ask? Girls with frikkin' lasers on their heads?
The hanger formly known as "hammock engineer".
I got the green (seconds) double layer. I had a list of things that I was going to put into a myog hammock. A zippered bugnet, ridgeline, and double bottom were the primary things, along with side tie outs. Brandon put all of these into the Blackbird. So, now I have the freedom to use 'my' hammock while I still work on my round tuit on making my own. Since at my all time heaviest I was 130, and that was only while I was in Germany (for only 3 weeks! I swear the AIR there is fattening!), I wasn't concerned about whether it was 1.1 double or 1.7 double.
I am delighted with the color and craftsmanship of the hammock. I also (so far, anyway) like the triangular, uhh, rings(?) that he sent. As much as I usually mod every hammock to 'my' way with the ring buckles, I ended up using the stuff he provided, and I learned a few neat new tricks on how to do it, too.
Back to the fabric, it feels wonderful, looks luxurious (first thought as I took it out of the box) and while I do see some color variations once it's hung up in the sunlight from the inside, I'm not concerned about it.

Is there a price difference? (What is the cost of a BlackBird, anyway?)

1.7 double layer for 3 reasons...
1. At 205 lbs, I had safety concerns with the 1.1. The additional weight wasn't a huge concern.
2. The heavier weight fabric isn't supposed to stretch as much giving a flatter lie. I have not used a 1.1 oz so I can't confirm
3. I WAS a pad user and I like the double bottom for pad use. As a convert to UQs, I'm not sure how important the double bottom is anymore.

Double 1.7, double 1.1, and coming soon single 1.7. The first and the last are for me, Genuine Draft gets the double 1.1 for Xmas.
For me, I had been sleeping in a UL hammock for a few months and wanted to see what a little luxury would feel like in the woods. So the first order was a double 1.7. The side benefit was gaining the experience of a double bottom, which I am now pretty fond of.
The double 1.1 fit Genuine Draft's needs perfectly. She is a cold sleeper (REALLY!) so a pad sleeve was something we were looking for in any new hammock for her. She isn't heavy enough to require a heavy fabric and enjoys taking any weight out of her pack she can find. Plus, after she kidnapped my BlackBird in the basement for a nap one day, there really was no further discussion about which hammock she wanted.
I want a single 1.7 next for multi-day hikes out here. Just want a lighter version for those uphills!
Shadowmoss they've been called tri-rings which is easy enough for me to remember, so I like it!
Trust nobody!
I ordered a dual layer 1.1/1.7. I wanted a 1.7oz layer for durability but I also wanted a dual layer hammock. I went with the 1.1 for the second layer to save a bit of weight.

Are there any weight guidelines for the fabrics? I weigh 165#, I'm guessing a single layer 1.1 would work for me?
TAK- A single layer of 1.1 should hold that heavy 165 lbs. no problem. I've slept in a single layer (not Warbonnet) hammock at a whopping 225 lbs. and it held me. I was nervous, but it held. The only thing I would worry about is it stretching and maybe causing some squeeze issues. But, at 165 lbs. I don't think I'd even worry about that.
