    The versatile Incubator

    Quick story,
Camped with my 40 degree Incubator and 20 degree JRB Hudson River last night. Got a little cooler than expected and pushed the 40 degree Incubator to the limit on my underside. So I put the Hudson River into underquilt mode and used the Incubator as my top quilt.
The Incubator makes a great top quilt. I'm 6'3" and it covers me fine. Forms a nice footbox using the sewn in loops along the edge. I've been snoozin with it in the backyard all day in top quilt mode while it rains, just to verify my experience last night.

I had to come inside to take a pic! Also, Im in Alabama, not Michigan!

So, the Incubator is just as dual purpose as the Hudson River. Sweet. I love my setup now. I have more options than I originally thought, and dont need to buy more quilts.

Above 40 temps: Incubator under, Hudson River on top and opened up to vent if I get hot.
Under 40: If I get cold on bottom, switch the Hudson River to underquilt and snuggle up good under the 40 degree Incubator.

Neat experience, thanks for sharing. I have two incubators (20* and 0*) but had never considered using them as TQ in a pinch. Now, I can keep that trick in my back pocket.

OK, one piece of the story that I missed. What were the temperatures that you were out in?

I have no idea what the temp was. My back just started getting cold with the 40 degree Incubator so I made the flip-flop then. I never carry a thermometer around.

Done this with a few of mine on the couch. Airing out some gear and then BAM you fall into a nap trap of downy goodness!

Great post! I think I also have a lot of options now that I didn't before ....

Just ordered a 0* Incubator and BUrrow from HG, and also purchased a Phoenix and Burrow (900 fill) from the sale section here, and also have an AHE 30* New River UQ. I think some of those combinations will work anyplace, and if I used them all, I could camp in Antarctica! LOL!

Thanks for reminding us to look at everything with multiple uses!
