I love my Superfly and the great coverage it gives. The doors come in handy in heavy rain and blowing rain. Like the mod for hiking poles with the side tieouts that were in a recent thread to spread it out.

Thanks! That is exactly my opinion. It JUST fits if you don't pull out the side tie outs for the shelf. You can pull it straight down...but not much point in that other than keeping the shelf tight.

Thanks again for all the replies. I think I am going with the MJ and if I decide I need more coverage I can add the doors later.

Edge is enough tarp for most situations. if you hike to camp, get the big tarp. if you camp to hike, get the Edge.

I have an edge and a superfly.

I use the edge in summer, especially when backpacking and have had no problems (I did have to use my ground sheet as a door in one sideways blowing storm but would have to do it with a MJ as well).

I like the superfly because of the size but more so the doors. Great for winter and for privacy when camping with large groups.

If you are only going for one, I'd do the SF since it is most versatile followed by the MJ but unless you spend time in the cold, the edge would do the job.

I love my MJ with doors. I keep that setup in my skins and pull them back when not needed, very little extra wt. the coverage in winter and wind is awesome.

I am planning on buying a marmjamba that is what my dream tarp is. As for you doors dont hurt to have when blocking outrageous winds the edge and marmjaba can be purchased with doors. The only deal breaker is space. In a winter tarp space is aweome. It ensures that the snow does not cave into you. But You don't really have that problem I would do the edge in your case.
