    How to finish baffle ends???

I'm about to make a diy top quilt. I think i understand everything pretty well except what to do with the ends of the baffles. I plan on sewing the 2 pieces of nylon together at the edges, and that is where i am confused as to what to do with the baffle end. Do I sandwich it between the 2 layers?

You would probably get more answers in the DIY forum, but I happened to see this post. I just left my baffles long and let them press against the end inside the channel. I'm not sure if I'm explaining it well. I did not sew them into the shell seam. I don't think it's critical; look at the karo quilts, they don't have any containment of the down, just baffles that impede movement.

What is did was trim the no-seeum to the same length as the shell. Then I accordion folded the no-seeum at each baffle seam and pinned it in place. Then I started sewing the shells together making gathers in the outer layer at the center of each baffle. This way each baffle had the top and bottom shells lined up at the seams. Hope this helps. If not, I may have a photo of what I did. I tried to take pics along the way...just haven't had time to make a post of them in the forums.

I cut my baffles to the finished width of the quilt and do what doogie stated above.

If you can find a pic, that would be great. Just want to understand all the options before making it.

LostBikers new site www.underquilts.com under the "finishing under quilt" tab ( from memory so maybe not exactly that ) has a pictorial of finishing off the baffles....might be helpful to take a gander at that.

I didn't have a pic of how I sewed the ends, but I'm going to be making 4 new quilts starting next week. I'll be sure to take some pics of sewing an end an post it.

I simply rolled both edges into a rolled hem and haven't had any problems. I ran two seams so their is about a 1/2" flat edge.
