I would highly recommend the Irish Wilderness. It's a perfect 3 day, 2 night loop; I just posted a trip report in that section of the forum; check it out; it's a great location.

I'll take a look at it.

Was there any water source on the trail? Or is this a carry what you need place?

(((Just read your review and looked at the pics. Looks like a couple streams and a river there. Definitely going to add this one to my list of go to Hikes))

Going counter clockwise from the Camp Five pond there was a small pond to the north of the trail about half way to bliss springs. So that's about 3.5 miles, maybe 4. then there's good flowing water at bliss springs. Then you can take the connector to white's creek and there's water there. Again at Fiddler Springs and after you pass fiddler springs you actually hike along White's Creek for a while so plenty of water. Doing it again, I'd take 2 liters in on a cool day, refill at bliss spring or at the eleven point river. The driest stretch is the first 3 - 5 miles or the very last 3 -5 miles taking the loop counter clock wise. In hot weather I'd carry three.

Sounds Like a perfect 3 Days to me.

I really appreciate your trail review and Advice. I am going to make this hike before spring hits for sure, just not sure when. Hope to get a few folks to go with too.

Sounds good. Any time other than jan 19-20. Already a hang that weekend. I'm sure we could scare up some other hangers. I'm also thinking of heading up north the end of feb or march to hang when/if they schedule something. If anyone is interested when the time comes they are more than welcome to ride up with me.

It is a perfect 3 day trip but for you guys who burn up the miles it could easily be a two day; one day in to the river and then a 2nd day out. Just as you pass Bliss springs the trail starts to climb until you're on a high bluff. Within about a quarter mile the trail turns back away from the bluff's edge to follow the back end of a long draw that slopes down towards the river edge. I think you could find it based on this discription. If you went off trail and followed that draw to the river (you can see the river the whole time), I believe you'd be able to hang along the river at the base of the bluff. At some points along the river it wasn't so inviting; a lot of brush and frequently flooded flats but it seemed to me that this spot was just nice open hardwood forest.

I could be wrong but I would definitely check it out. If not, I would fill up all of my water at bliss, hike up to the bluff and then find a spot to hang up "on top" of all that in the big woods.

Depending on when you go, if you wouldn't mind some more company I would like to try and join you.

    Merry Christmas
    Gideon
