Just ordered a structural ridgeline from whoopieslings.com and was wondering how to attach it to my hammock. Is it just a case of threading my whoopies through at each end?

Depends a bit on which hammock you have. Their site actually has a ton of great videos, though. If you have any additional, more specific questions on a particular model, etc. after watching those, feel free to post.

Had a look at the videos and can only find how to install whoopie slings, Ive already got them fitted just wanted to know how the ridgeline fits and works.
If it helps I have a gathered end hammock with a sewn in channel with the whoopie slings through.
Hi Paul,
This is how my set up works on my open channelled hammock..
[IMG][/IMG]
Continuous loop of amsteel through hammock channel
Aluminium ring,
Paracord ridge line (at present) (Can’t remember how to define the length)
Whoopie sling,
Repeat other end of hammock
As Your in the UK like me, get a metre of Amsteel from DDhammocks along with a pair of rings.
Video for making the continuous loops is on youtube.

I’ll probably get round to making an adjustable ridge line when I figure out how much Dyneema I have left over from my other project.
Good luck !

I actuall just put my ridge line through the channel too. Just the ridgeline first, then a whoopie. Here's another link that may show some good pics:

I personally prefer not to attach it to the ring. That way, if I want to change the suspension and/or ring out, I don't have to worry about it.

I attached mine after I put the whoopie through, just put it OVER the fixed eye after it was through the end channel then put the adjustable end of the whoopie through the fixed eye, haven't had any probs.
Paul, I sent you an email but will post here in case you look here first. The ridge line has a small fixed loop on one end and the larger, adjustable loop on the other. The easiest way to install it is to simply thread the whoopie slings through the two loops. The ridge line will pull down against the hammock when it is hung. A more secure way would be to undo the larks head holding the whoopie slings on. Do not pull the whoopie sling back through the sewn end channel. Then just run the whoopie sling through the loop on the ridge line and re-secure the larks head. Repeat on other end. This captures the ridge line onto the whoopie sling. Some folks who what to disconnect the ridge line for using the hammock in like a chair mode will connect the adjustable loop end to the whoopie sling with one of our light duty soft shackles but that is only if desired and not necessary.
