Thanks! The swelling has gone down sugnificantly, but my knees are still feeling it a bit. I am glad I finished.

Just a wonderful trip report FIMB. I for one cannot imagine those mileages but I'm sure proud that you grabbed the bull and thrashed him!
I think the FT will see lots more visits thanks to you. You've really shown a beautiful glimpse of South Carolina.

Thank you for the incredibly kind words. I hope that I did the trail justice.

The distance wasn't the worst part. My muscles are in great shape, it's just that I'm not the owner of the knees that the rest of my body thinks I should have. Does Dutch make Titanium knees?

3rd time was a charm ... loving the beard guy .. sun up to sun down 3 in a row ... way to knock 'em down .. I can see why you have such an affinity for the Foothills and now it's no longer a nemesis ... Thanks for sharing

Way to go on getting it.
Rain and gloom. Love it. Those trips make good stories even to those who care to hear a backpacking tale.
    Congratulations on whuppin' it.

Third time was the charm. Thanks. My wife likes the goatee better, so this might just be a winter thing. I've kept it trimmed. If I hadn't, it'd be around my collar bones.

I still love the Foothills trail, but I'm not interested in thru hiking it again anytime soon. I will enjoy many more overnights and double nights on it, but a thru hike might need to wait a bit. Now I want to complete the Art Loeb trail in one day. My knees can't wait...

Thanks, Shug. Completing something and rain/gloom is good for you isn't it? Others love to hear about how miserable it can get. They normally don't see the ending coming, just the way nature should be...a mystery.

I've done a few parts of it, but it would be nice as a through. Doing the Gorges Park section (east to west) this weekend. That up from lake Jocassee to the ridge really sucks. They don't call it the "Footstairs Trail" for nothing.

It is a wonderful challenge. I've never heard it called the "Footstairs Trail" before. I got a bit of a chuckle from reading that. Enjoy your hike this weekend.
