There are a number of threads about doing it. Basically, you want to sew along the zipper, then cut the zipper off. If you cut first, the fill runs all over. When I did 1, it was definatley a hack job. I also cut the "hood" off, as it was a mummy bad that I used. Then finished the edges with grosgrain. Added corner tie outs to attach shock cord to hook to my hammock....RR

The easiest way is to sew along the inside edge of the zipper then cut the zipper off the outside edge of where you sewed. That way theres no mess and you can sew grosgrain on that edge. Just like Roadrunnr72 said.
I got in a fight one time with a really big guy, and he said, "I'm going to mop the floor with your face." I said, "You'll be sorry." He said, "Oh, yeah? Why?" I said, "Well, you won't be able to get into the corners very well."

here's how I did mine. I don't like Grosgrain, so I kept some extra material on the edge and rolled a hem. If I was smart, I would have had something other than black thread, but I'm the only one who looks at it...

    It's really big and roomy . . . a total of 32oz...

I did a rolled hem instead of adding extra grosgrain as well. I left it pretty big and puffy so it's comfy.
