January will probably be the first Ohio hang I CAN come to. I don't have much going on except the end of Jan. I'm willing to drive a bit, but don't really want to head clear across the state. My friend and I just spent last night at Nelson's Ledges Park in Parkman, Ohio. Very cool place, lots of great sites. There is some minimal hiking/exploring to do, but no serious trails. Either way I'm most likely in. I'd love to get out and finally meet some fellow Ohio hangers.

Hey CB, I'm headed to Mt. Rogers like the Doc, but still would like to get a local hike in. I'll be watching the thread.....hoping....waiting....please! Anything to get me away from having to sit through another Dance Moms episode!

Last year we did one on the same weekend as the MRWH and got "better" weather than they did! 12f and 2 or 3 inches of snow. It was awesome.

I must say I'm getting a bit excited about possible trips/hikes in Jan. &/or Feb., since Winter weekends tend to be less complicated. Not sure if I'm going to hang or go to ground, but I do want to keep up on all the possible hikes, dates, etc., so I'm a definate maybe! I'll check in on the when & where, and it just might work out..

Okay, so here's my schedule I could do:
    Jan 5,6,7 or Jan 10, 11 or Jan 15, 16 or Jan 21,22 or Jan 26, 27
Feb 1,2,3 or Feb 7,8 or Feb 11,12,13 or Feb 16, 17 or Feb 22,23,24 or Feb 26,27

I'd really like to get a several mile hike in to the camp site before setting up. Any one who is interested please post dates and a location. Thanks all!

I'll be watching the thread. January may be hard for me. I am almost to the point that I can test for my instrument rating (airplane) and that training is taking time from every weekend. If I'm available when others are, then I will come.

Zaleski would work very well for me if I am available. I have been planning on a trip there anyway in the midwinter.

If you're thinking of Mohican, there is a nice little river walk worth considering. My plan to do it is to first go into the state forestry office and register at one of the park and pack sites then drive back out to the family campgrounds on state route 3, park there with the registration in your windshield and then hike along the north side of the river or take the moutain bike trail up to the park and pack sites. Taking the river trail would take a bit of navigation to estimate where to come up out of the gorge and bushwack up to the park and pack. Certainly easier now that the leaves are off.

I probably wouldn't have tried this until I got more familiar with the trails last Fall on a group hike. I found they sell a bit more detailed trial map at the camp store in the family camp grounds for a couple bucks that was much better detail than the pdf the state had on the web site.
