Try using a slightly smaller diameter cord for the prusik. Or different cord all together. They work great for me. Holds great, easy and simple to adjust.

Caveman, I'm certainly not an expert, but I would recommend using UCR instead of whoopies. These are easy to adjust and if milked properly don't slip. Have this on my tarp using 2.2 mm Zing-It and so far it has worked great. The only thing I've noticed for the guy lines is the bury needs to be a bit longer so it won't slip.

a couple of advantages: easy to adjust under tension; uses less cordage since it doesn't have to be doubled for the entire length.

Another suggestion is instead of replacing all the guy lines is replace 2 or 3 guy lines and see how they compare.

    Hope this helps.

Been there done that. I did it with braided masons line. The adjustability was fine, but there was so much extra line that it would get tangled, catch on bushes, etc. Aborted that idea after the first try. The best way I found for tie outs is to do a marlin spike hitch on the stake and just stretch tight and run it in the ground. No fiddle factor whatsoever.

I have always loved using the tautline hitch- easy to tie, versatile and very adjustable! IMHO if you learn the tautline and bowline you can concur the world.

I've been using the marlin spike hitch - never seen a reason to change.

That's not optimal for tarp guy outs.

You can put on as much tension as you need. They're easy to tie & undo

Yeah I know what they are, I use them all the time at work. It's also known as a coonass come-a-long. It's used to put major tension or pull things over like a pulley system. It's way over kill and ridiculous for guy outs.
