OK, it took me a little while and reading all the posts, but I get it now. That is pretty nice and definitely cuts back on the number of stakes. I likey!!!
I will be trying that with my SF.

I highlighted the lines and stick.
The green is the ridgline that wraps around the stick via clove hitch I suspect that I highlighted orange before tieing to the tree. The blue is the line that wraps around the ends of the sticks and then through the side tieout before going to the tree.
I'm just not sure if it's all one line, or if the ridglines and his new lines are seperate. Hope it helps a little atleast.

    Good drawing!

Green line is the ridge line for the tarp. Tie out at the trees as normal.

    Orange marks are your sticks.

Blue line is the tie out line. I have two lines (left and right) and I don't go around the tree. I tie off my blue lines at the ridge line at the tree.

Clove hitch your stick (placing it on top of your ridge line) then tie off at the tree/ridge line. Go the other side and clove hitch your stick on each side and pull your blue lines tight. That should give you your spreader bar for the pull outs. I now just use the lose ends of the blue lines to tie out the center stick on the ridge line so that it does not swag back and forth with the wind and possibily cut your ridgeline for your tarp.

Ok I see it now. The 2 side tie out lines tie off at the 'V'. So it goes from the ridgeline 'V', around the stick, through the tie outs, around the other stick, and to the other ridgline 'v'.
I'll have to play with that one day.

Thats very interesting, i only use 4 stakes as well but i use my hiking poles as my tie outs, along with some cord. again very cool setup.
