Packa Poncho as a gear hammock?

Hey All - have any Packa http://www.thepacka.com/ owners ever tried to fashion theirs into a gear hammock? I am going to dig mine out of the gear stash and see if I can just girth hitch a couple of zing-it whoopies on in such a way to make it a usable gear hammock for keeping my stuff off the ground. Will report if successful.

The Packa works great for what it is designed for - but would be great to get more function.

Seems like that will put a lot of stress on the seam between the "cover" and "jacket" parts. I've got one of the "just jeff's" combo pack cover and gear hammock. I'm content just to leave most of my gear on a scrap of tyvek under my tarp so I've very rarely used it as a gear hammock. You could probably just put the stuff inside the jacket, zip up the front and cinch the hood/bottom closed. You should be good to go....

depends on how much gear. like zukiguy said it would put stress on seams. i use mine as a wind block by zipping it around the bottom of my hammock(hood pulled tight at suspension). i do throw my gloves, socks and shirt in the pack part.
