I may be able to make this shindig, but first I gotta see how the time off and work scheduling pans out the first week in April.

So, I'm 100% in. I might have a friend or two joining me, thats not 100%. Do we have a start location yet and camps? I know it will be a hike at you own pace deal but I want to make sure I start at the right end. What time will most of you showing up on Friday?
Well it's looking better for me, but won't be able to say 100% till closer to the dates.
But does anyone know the weather forecast for the area? Also how has the area fared with all the recent rain? And or snow?
I know when I went to Dolly Sods the trail became streams, and the streams became rivers.
Are the trails muddy? Rocky?
I'm just trying to judge/gauge what I will need to bring and what may be a nicety.

Anyone know about cell coverage? That way we could do a few groups and meetup at the first campsite. You know text the GPS coords otherwise me and the dogs could day hike back to the start for a later link up.
Have no idea on the conditions yet. Never been to this trail before. Its all new to me. I'm over 3 hours away so wont be able to scout it out. Not too worried about the conditions to be honest. I will be bringing lots of options along with me and I will make a final decisions on shoes and rain wear at the trailhead. Its not a long hike so keep optional clothing and gear with you in your car so if you realize half way in that your setup wont work then just run back to the car and grab what ya need.
I plan to be at the trail head around midday on Friday. I plan to hike the valley/river side of the trail loop until I reach the 2nd camp site location and set up camp in that area. Saturday morning I plan to hike up the mountain and relax the rest of the day on the summit and camp there over night. Sunday morning I will hike the rest of the way out and head home just after mid-day.
I would plan on it being muddy. Also, I would plan on at least one river crossing.P8180008.jpg
