Heading to Harrisonburg Va.. Any near by hike/camp recommendations?

Im going to visit my Sister in Harrisonburg Va. On April 7 & 8... Then have The 9th & 10th to hit the woods and explore a bit... Any recommendations for scenic day hikes, and a good camp spot... Thanks!

30 miles west of Harrisonburg on route 33 by Switzer Lake there are trails around there. If you have a truck or 4wheel drive you can take skidmore fork to duckle hollow and go up to Flag Pole or Meadow Knob the trails up there are nice and it's 4000 feet elevation. Great camp spots up at the knob.

Try hiking Massanutten Mountain near Harrisonburg. There is also a resort there/indoor pool. BTW, people from Michigan don't really pronounce it "Meeechigan", do they?

Don't know if it would be open yet but "Natural Chimneys" park just out of town is really nice.
And nobody mentioned just driving up to the Skyline Drive and going in anywhere... AT crosses every few miles
