    Reflectix as a pad?

What do you guys think? I have a thermarest neo air from my days of tent camping, so I'm good with what I got. But I was wondering if anyone has already tried this and if it was successful, I ordered a roll so I could try out different projects with it and wanted to see if it was worth cutting out that much or not.

Yes! You can use it as a pad. It saved my butt (Literally) last year at the FL hang when it got down to 28 degrees and my UQ wasn't enough. I also make a sit pad out of it that I'm never without. You will find that sometimes your Thermarest isn't enough and if you slide a reflectix sit pad under your back side it can keep you toasty.

I bought a roll of Reflectix from Home Depot and made a decent pad from it using a pair of scissors and duct tape. I cut a mummy shape of myself that my daughter drew for me with a sharpie while I laid down on the pad, and then cut 2 strips to add "wings" to the shoulder area and leg area. I edged the whole thing with duct tape folded around the edges.

It seems to work ok in the hammock, and I used it between the hammock and my pancho liner underquilt last months, it kept me comfortable down to about 34F with baselayers and a 40F mummy bag.

You can also add some fleece if you worry about getting sweaty.

All of the above is true, but it will never be as warm as ccf, and the bulk is about the same.

I carry my HH double bubble (reflectix) pad with me always. weighs nothing packs easy andmakes a nice soft sit pad when folded in half a couple times. Adds a decent amount of insulation. Yes not as much as ccf but still a good amount. Works very good if you need to sit on snow!

I like the idea of the reflective bubble pad or ccf instead of an underquilt but I'm worried about getting sweaty.

I wear synthetic clothing as a buffer to the sweat and I prefer to tolerate a little condensation instead of CBS (cold posterior syndrome). If I get too sweaty, I ventilate until I'm cooler, then re-cover.
