    My Dutchware Quilt Hook System

I have had a couple of queries about how I have been using my Dutchware Quilt Hooks and getting rid of all those hammock lines and "tweaks" to make underquilts work better. The system I've been using for a few months now seems to be optimal for me.

Yes, I am under a carport for this one, one of my hammock trees blew over in a recent storm. I'm on my way outside now to go start building a permanent hammock hanging lab.

Once again, Sgt Rock leaves conventional wisdom in the tent and forges new, simple solutions! Kudos!

I've also been dissatisfied with complex quilt suspensions. This gives me a lot to think about!

I use a symmetrical hammock because I switch sides & diagonals throughout the night, so I might like to keep a "daisy chain" of attachment points for more flexibility.

It is not easy to change in the middle of the night. What might work is to keep the lines slightly longer and put the "shoulder" loops higher up. Then you could adjust the quilt by just moving the cord locks on the main lines.

Might work if you used 6 'clip on' quilt hooks. That would probably give you the flexibility your looking for. My only concern with this would be whether or not they can hold the weight of a UQ on their own.

I did this to my 11 ft. 1.1 DIY to hold a DIY summer quilt. It works great! I agree about all the lines, my feet were always getting tangled or I'd bump them with my feet and it would wake me up. This is beautiful. Thank you for the great video explaining it!

Excellent explanation Rock, I very much like your set-up which would work extremely well with my net-less hammock. Now I just gotta figure out a way to do this on one with a net.

I think that the middle support may be a little superfluous but I feel better having it. You might try doing it without the middle. Another option might be to use a hook in the center with a center "guide" point or perhaps using grip clip in the center.

Sew button holes on the gunwales of the hammock into the hem or zipper backing, OIW --short reinforced slits. Hook the UQ into the buttonhole. No additional hardware = less weight.
